73rd Independence Day Celebration.

Fifteen August, is a red letter day in the history of India. On this day in 1947, our country become free form the long imprisonment of the British rule. Since 1947, fifteenth August is celebrated every year with great joy and pride. It reminds us for the great struggle of our freedom from the British rule. The great sacrifice for our freedom fighters is remembered, which serves as a beacon light for the development of this great country. The main function is held at Red Fort in Delhi where the Prime Minister unfurls the National flag. It is an occasion of celebration for every Indian and the whole nation celebrate a holiday from all work and take a pledge to work whole heatedly for the development of this country and preservation of Independence. All those who have stood out exclusively in their respective field of work are honored in public meetings. The whole nation pays homage to the security forces who have laid down their lives for the honor and security of the country.

We also celebrated the Independence day in our school compound, with great pump and show.

There was great enthusiasm among students for celebrating this day. Remembering the amount of dedication and service out in by our esteemed armed forces, this year we chose to call Colonel Gurcharan Singh Kohli (Retd.) accompanied with his wife Smt. Apinder Kohli as our chief guest for the event.

Colonel Gurcharan Singh Kohli (Retd.) is a second generation Veteran, inspired by his father to serve in the Indian Army. He joined the army fulfilling his child hood dream, got trained in the Artillery Division (Tope Khana) in Belgaum and was commissioned as a Lieutenant 1970, his first posting was in the India – Pakistan war of 1970, he fought bravely throughout his career and served in all types of Terrain from the Cold Hills of the Saichen Glacier to the Deep Jungles of India. While in service Colonel Kohli kept in touch with his studies too, he completed his M.A in International Law from Pune University, further he also completed his M.B.A from Symbiosis University also completing his Diploma in Forign Trade from Symbiosis. Retiring from the Army he started his owe ISO Certified Security Company : “Classic Guard Services”

The day began with all the students in Attention for the Chief Guest to hoist our national flag at the School Play Ground, with our Chaiman Shri. Pradhaban Pillai, after the flag ceremony the guests were Invited to the School Auditorium, students greeted the guests and welcomed them with a Flower Plant, in place of the traditional bouquet of Flowers.

Taking the function ahead was a beautiful musical performance by our students of 6th and 7th grade, they sung many famous compositions about Patriotism and India, next was a speech about India and Independence delivered eloquently by a student, next was a spectacular dance on the song of “Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logo” by our girl students, followed by a Short Play/Skit on the freedom struggle of Mangal Pande and Bhagat Singh, the play bought in memories of our Freedom Struggle and was rewarded with applause by the Audience, Guests and Teachers.

It was followed by Speeches by Young Shreya Patel and Pooja Chowdri on the Patriotic movement of India. The last act of the day was a Musical Skit put on by the 9th and 10th Standard on the recent Pulwama Attack, our chief guest was invited on the dias to give his thoughts, in his speech he was moved by all the performances and was nostalgic about the wars he fought, he gave students valuable advice about joining the Services and offered his guidance to all the students who wanted to join the Army, Navy or Air Force.

Our Chairman gave a vote of thanks to our Chief Guest and presented him with a School Momento.
